Rita Hoffe is a middle-aged street person who has seemingly come back from the dead. She has strong psychic abilities that save her life when she is attacked by an unearthly Creature but drive her mad and ultimately to suicide.

Unable to pass on, Rita's spirit lingers in the attic of the psychiatric hospital where she ended her life. When she encounters Cathy and Reggie she realizes that the Monster she fought is the cause of her spiritual containment. Using Cathy, she forces her way  to a final encounter with "the Creature from the wall".
