Cathy is the emotional core of RCJay, a paranormal investigative company she runs with close friends Reggie Hansen and Jason Len. She has an emotional attachment to both men but a stronger one to Reggie. When she has no choice but to leave the two, she tortures herself for what she's done but soon redeems herself.

Cathy has psychic abilities that allow her to seek out and communicate with human and animal spirits. Her abilities have lead her to construct a theory concerning a "wall" of psycho-kinetic energy that divides dimensions and the spirit world from her own. This wall she calls the "Paraplane" and it is her ambition to one day breach it. As fate would have it, it is breached first by a homicidal Creature.
